68th Infantry

1985.105 Regimental Color Unknown v1p187
68th Infantry, Regimental Color. The 68th was formed in August 1862, nicknamed the "Scott Legion" because a large number of its officers had served under General Winfield Scott in the Mexican War. It was composed of men from Philadelphia county. Due to its condition, it does not appear to have been carried in battle and was probably received in 1864 or 1865. The regiment was mustered out of service in June 1865.
